On November 12, 2025, at PMI Global Summit 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Mira Thoumy Ghanem, VP of Governance of the PMI Lebanon Chapter, received the 2025 Chapter Leadership Impact Award from PMI CEO Pierre Le Manh.

Dr. Thoumy Ghanem has emerged as one of the most influential leaders within the PMI Lebanon Chapter, distinguished by her commitment to governance excellence, youth empowerment, member engagement, and community impact. Her involvement began even before she joined the Board: at the 2023 End-of-Year Event, she was recognized as one of the Chapter’s most active volunteers.

Strengthening Governance and Organizational Resilience

Working closely with the Board, Mira helped update the Chapter’s bylaws and charter, clarified roles and responsibilities, and formalized handover documents to ensure smooth leadership transitions. She documented internal processes and helped standardize workflows, so incoming Board members can onboard effectively and members receive consistent service. Her collaborative, structured approach, and her readiness to support fellow Board members across portfolios, have strengthened the Chapter’s efficiency and its culture of teamwork and service.

Empowering Students and Building Academic Partnerships

Mira played a central role in establishing the first PMI Student Club in the MENA region. When administrative barriers arose at her own university, she designed an alternative student board model with the VP of Membership, recruited the founding team, guided them in drafting bylaws, and continues to mentor them.

Her academic leadership extended to the Chapter’s first Memorandum of Understanding with the Lebanese American University (LAU), which gives students mentorship, internships, and access to PMI’s global network, while LAU supports PMI with expert speakers, event collaborations, and the promotion of PMI certifications. She also developed an international virtual exchange program, launched in 2024 and rolling out in 2025, in which mixed teams of students from universities worldwide work on four-week projects tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Strengthening Member Engagement and Community Building

Mira designed and facilitated a speed networking activity at the Chapter’s end-of-year event, one of the program’s most celebrated moments. She has also taken part in social impact initiatives, including visits to the Children’s Cancer Center, supporting patients and staff.

Driving Crisis-Responsive Impact

During the October 2024 war, she coordinated an effort between the Board and the Student Club to prepare meals for displaced families. Her most significant community initiative is the NGO crisis management training program she conceived and led: with a team of five volunteers, she produced ten training videos applying project management principles to crisis situations. Released in early 2025, the series reached thousands of viewers. She now leads Phase Two, with direct coaching for individual NGOs, and is exploring partnerships, including with Project Managers Without Borders (PMWB), to scale its impact.

A Leader Who Embodies PMI’s Purpose

Through her governance work, academic leadership, volunteer mobilization, and crisis-response initiatives, Dr. Mira Thoumy Ghanem has helped position PMI Lebanon as a Chapter that not only develops project professionals but also mobilizes them as agents of positive change.
