1. Who we are
This website is run by PMI Lebanon Chapter (“the Chapter”, “we”), the Lebanese chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI). The Chapter is responsible for the information you share through this website. You can reach us through the contact form.
2. What this notice covers
This notice explains what information the Chapter receives when you visit this website, send us a message or a nomination through it, or sign up for Chapter updates; how we use that information; and the choices you have. It also explains how we feature people on the website. It does not cover PMI.org or other websites we link to, which have their own policies (see section 9).
3. Information you give us
We only receive personal information through the website when you choose to send it through one of our forms.
Messages, applications and nominations
- Contact form (Contact): your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message.
- Volunteer form (Volunteer with PMI Lebanon): your name, email address, the area you are interested in and, if you add one, a short note about yourself.
- Partnership form (Outreach & Partnerships): your name, email address, your organization if you give it, the kind of partnership and your message.
- Idea form (Connect Beyond PM): your name, email address, the kind of activity and, if you add one, your idea.
- Mentorship application (Mentorship page): your name, email address, whether you apply as a mentee or a mentor, the area you want to focus on, your years of project experience and your LinkedIn profile if you give them, and your message.
- Member Insights proposal (Member Insights page): your name, email address, the title of the article you propose, a link to your draft if you add one, and your message.
- Interest group request (Interest groups page): your name, email address, the group you want to join or the group you propose, and your message.
- Chapter awards nomination (Chapter awards page): your name and email address, the award category, the name of the person, team or project you nominate, their organization if you give it, and why you are nominating them.
Each form asks you to agree before sending. Please do not include confidential or sensitive personal information (for example health, financial or identity-document details) in a message. If you nominate someone else for an award, please share only what is needed to explain the nomination; the awards committee may contact the nominee about it.
Chapter updates by email, WhatsApp or SMS
You can sign up for Chapter updates with the “Get chapter updates by email” form at the bottom of every page, or with the sign-up window that may appear on the home page. We receive:
- your email address and, from the home page window, your name;
- your mobile number, only if you give one and tick the box asking for event reminders by WhatsApp or SMS (a number given without that box ticked is not kept);
- which of the Monthly, Weekly and Daily updates you chose, if any;
- a record of your agreement: the wording of each box you ticked, the date and the page you signed up on, and the date you confirmed your address.
We then email you a link to confirm your address. You receive Chapter emails only after you click it; if you don’t, we delete the sign-up after 30 days.
4. People featured on the website
The website shows the names, photographs, roles and short biographies of the Chapter’s Board members, Student Board members and event speakers, and the names and photographs of the authors of Member Insights articles, as part of the Chapter’s activities. A Student Board member’s profile may also show their university. We also celebrate members:
- Volunteer Spotlight stories and Chapter awards winners appear only after the person (or, for a team or project, its lead) has agreed to their name, photograph and story being published. We keep a record of that agreement.
- Volunteer team profiles show a volunteer’s name, portrait, program role and short biography and, if they choose, their university or organization, qualifications, LinkedIn profile and years of service. A profile appears only after the volunteer has agreed to it being published. We keep a record of that agreement privately; it is never shown on the website.
- Chapter News stories may congratulate new members and members who earned a PMI certification by name. These names are not listed on the newsletter pages themselves.
If you appear on the website and would like something changed or removed, write to us (see section 10).
5. Information collected automatically
- Protection against misuse. When you send a form or sign up for updates, the website uses your IP address to limit repeated attempts (no more than five per hour). It keeps only a scrambled, one-way code made from the address, never the address itself, and the code expires after one hour.
- Spam check. When it is switched on, the message, application and nomination forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that they are sent by a person, not an automated program. Cloudflare processes information about your browser and device to do this, under its own privacy policy. The email sign-up does not use it.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may record technical information about visits (such as IP address, browser, pages requested and time) to keep the website running and secure.
- Website analytics (only if you accept). The website may use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it. It is never loaded unless you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. It measures, for example, which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, what they search for on the site and which actions are completed (such as sending a form, not what is written in it). If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (named
_gaand_ga_…) and receives information about your device and browser, your approximate location and your IP address; Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. We have switched off Google signals and advertising features, and we see only statistics that do not identify individual visitors. Google may process this information outside Lebanon, including in the United States, under its own privacy policy. You can change your mind at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; refusing removes those cookies. Visits by logged-in Chapter editors are not counted. - Choices remembered by your browser. The website stores two small notes in your own browser (its “local storage”, not cookies), which are never sent to us: your answer to the cookie banner, for 12 months; and, if you close the home page sign-up window or sign up for updates, a note that keeps the window from appearing again for 30 days. Neither contains personal information, and you can remove them by clearing your browser’s site data.
- Other cookies. The website does not use advertising cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for Chapter editors who log in to manage the website.
- Fonts and other content. The website’s fonts and images are served from the website itself, so your visit is not shared with font or embed providers. Event recordings and slides are links that open on other websites (see section 9); nothing from those websites is embedded in our pages.
6. How we use your information
We use the information you send us to:
- reply to your inquiry and pass it to the Chapter team member responsible for that subject;
- follow up on your interest in volunteering, a partnership, mentorship, an interest group, a Member Insights article or a community activity;
- review award nominations, with the awards committee and jury, and contact nominators and nominees about them;
- if you signed up for updates, send you Chapter news, event invitations and the quarterly newsletter by email, and the Monthly, Weekly or Daily update you chose, and, if you asked for them, event reminders by WhatsApp or SMS;
- if you accepted analytics, understand how the website is used so we can improve it;
- keep the website secure and prevent spam and misuse.
We add you to our mailing list only when you sign up for updates yourself and confirm your email address or, if you are a member of the PMI Lebanon Chapter, from PMI’s list of the Chapter’s members whose PMI email settings allow chapter emails. Members receive the quarterly newsletter and the Monthly, Weekly and Daily updates, and can leave any of them at any time (section 10). Sending a message, application or nomination does not add you to our mailing list. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
7. Who can see it
Messages, applications and nominations are not stored on the website. They are sent by email to the Chapter mailbox for the subject you chose (for example membership, events, volunteering, partnerships, mentorship or the Chapter awards), where they are read by the Board members and volunteers responsible for that area, including the awards committee and jury for nominations.
Sign-ups for updates are stored on the website in a list that only the Chapter’s website administrators can see; it is never shown on the website. To send the emails, we copy the list into the email service we use for our newsletter. Mobile numbers are used only to send the event reminders you asked for, through WhatsApp or an SMS service.
Service providers handle information only to provide their services to the Chapter: our hosting and email providers; Cloudflare (spam check, section 5); Google (analytics, only if you accept); our newsletter email service; and the WhatsApp or SMS service used for reminders. To help prepare the newsletter, Chapter editors may also use an AI service (Gemini, by Google) to summarize public LinkedIn posts published by PMI pages, and to draft the profiles of Board members, Student Board members, event speakers and volunteers from their public LinkedIn profiles, which an editor checks before anything is published; information you send through our forms or sign-ups is never sent to it.
We share your information with others, including PMI, only when you ask us to, when it is needed to answer your request, or when the law requires it.
8. How long we keep it
- Messages and applications: only as long as we need them to deal with your request and any follow-up, and then we delete them.
- Award nominations: for the awards cycle they were sent for, and then we delete them, except the details of winners who agreed to be featured.
- Volunteer team profiles: while the person volunteers with the Chapter. We take a profile down when they leave the team or ask us to.
- Student Board profiles: while the person serves on the Student Board. We take a profile down when they leave the Student Board or ask us to.
- Sign-ups for updates: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you; a sign-up that is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days. Your mobile number is deleted when you ask to stop WhatsApp or SMS reminders.
- Analytics (if you accept them): detailed information is kept in Google Analytics for 2 months, the shortest period it offers, and then deleted automatically; reports that show only totals, such as the number of visits in a month, may be kept longer.
- Notes in your browser: 12 months for your cookie choice and 30 days for the sign-up window, unless you clear them sooner.
9. PMI.org and other websites
PMI membership, certification, event registration on PMI platforms and payments happen on PMI.org or other websites we link to, not on this website. Information you give there is handled by PMI or the relevant provider under their own privacy policies. The same applies to the websites of the Authorized Training Partners listed in our directory, and to the services that host event recordings and slides (such as YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Drive), which open when you follow those links.
10. Your choices
- Emails: you can unsubscribe at any time, using the link in any Chapter email or by writing to us, or choose which emails you receive, such as the Monthly, Weekly and Daily updates, on the preferences page linked at the bottom of every Chapter email. If you change your email address there, we send a link to the new address to confirm it; once it is confirmed, we send a short notice to your previous address, so you would notice a change you did not make. That notice shows the new address only partly, and nothing more is kept about your previous address.
- WhatsApp or SMS reminders: you can stop them at any time by replying to a reminder or by writing to us, and we will delete your number.
- Analytics: you can accept or refuse at any time from “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
- Your information: you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, including a sign-up or something published about you.
Send any of these requests through the contact form. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will reply as soon as we reasonably can.
11. Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when the website or the way we handle information changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
12. Contact
For any question about this notice or your information, contact the Chapter through the contact form.
