Why this session matters

For decades, project success was measured strictly by adherence to time, cost, and scope. In this Monthly Talk, Eng. Marwan Daya explored how that understanding has evolved, and why value creation and stakeholder impact have become the true measure of success in today’s Project Economy.

Session overview

Drawing on the principles of PMI’s PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition, Eng. Daya explained the shift from outputs to outcomes and why delivering true value has become the ultimate benchmark. He discussed the rise of the Project Economy, in which strategy is increasingly executed through projects rather than traditional operations, and showed why organizations that master value-based delivery gain a significant competitive edge.

He then explored value beyond deliverables: how economic, social, and environmental dimensions can and should be built into assessments of project impact, measuring what truly matters rather than only what is easy to report. Using examples from Lebanon and the wider region, he showed how well-designed projects have helped rebuild trust, stimulate innovation, and support economic recovery. He closed with the future of project leadership, as project managers become strategic value architects.

Why it matters

As organizations judge projects by the value they deliver, project managers are expected to act as strategic value architects. Measuring outcomes, engaging stakeholders with empathy, and connecting projects to organizational and national growth are becoming core skills for the next decade, especially in countries facing complexity and uncertainty such as Lebanon.
