In July 2025, as an act of sustainability, our VP of Volunteers Ziad Ibrahim opened an account at the IPT recycling drive-through for the Chapter’s Student Club, so that the club can collect recyclables.
Why Recycling Matters
Recycling plays a vital role in advancing sustainable development, particularly in relation to three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
- SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production: by reducing waste, recycling makes more efficient use of natural resources and reduces pressure on raw material extraction.
- SDG 13, Climate Action: it lowers the greenhouse gas emissions from landfilling and incineration, and the energy needed to produce goods from virgin materials.
- SDG 15, Life on Land: it helps protect ecosystems and biodiversity by reducing deforestation, mining, and pollution that threaten terrestrial habitats.
Together, these connections make recycling a practical and impactful strategy for promoting a circular economy and safeguarding the planet’s climate and natural systems.
