My professional journey has always been rooted in customer-oriented roles such as sales, customer success, and support. While working as a Sales Manager at a digital transformation startup, I found myself naturally stepping into project management. Most of my colleagues were brilliant developers who preferred to stay focused on technical work, so I became the bridge between them and our clients.
This role gradually introduced me to the world of project management and, to my surprise, it was a world I deeply enjoyed, even though I hadn’t initially sought it.
Over time, I discovered that project management is not only about coordination and delivery, but also about leadership, adaptability, and structured problem-solving. Learning that there was an entire certification dedicated to this field, backed by a global community, gave me clarity about the path I wanted to follow.
In September 2024, I made the decision to leave my full-time role and dedicate myself to studying. Three months later, in December 2024, I proudly passed the PMP® exam on my first attempt.
Earning this certification has given me credibility and opened opportunities I never thought possible. But beyond the personal achievement, what I value most is becoming part of the PMI community.
It is a rare and remarkable space where professionals, many with vast experience and accomplishments, choose to share knowledge, encourage one another, and celebrate collective growth rather than compete. This sense of belonging reinforces the idea that project management is as much about people and collaboration as it is about frameworks and methodologies.
