PMI has launched the Agile Practice Guide – Second Edition (APG2e), developed with Agile Alliance. The updated guidance reflects how agility is practiced today, as organizations need more than agile teams: they need to adapt faster, deliver greater value, and navigate AI, enterprise transformation, hybrid work and growing complexity.

The new edition expands beyond team-level delivery to cover:

  • Enterprise agility and organizational transformation
  • Product thinking, value streams and outcome-driven delivery
  • AI and GenAI, DevOps and modern delivery practices
  • Scaling approaches, including SAFe®, LeSS, Scrum@Scale and Disciplined Agile (DA®)
  • Sustainability, ethical delivery and leading distributed teams

The Agile Manifesto provides the principles; the second edition helps organizations turn those principles into measurable business value. As PMI puts it, the future of agile is not about following a framework, but about continuously adapting, delivering value and thriving through change.

Recap

Key takeaways

  • The second edition goes beyond team-level delivery to enterprise agility and organizational transformation.
  • New topics include AI and GenAI, DevOps and DORA metrics, flow metrics, and remote and hybrid team practices.
  • It covers scaling approaches such as SAFe®, LeSS, Scrum@Scale and Disciplined Agile (DA®).
  • Sustainability and ethical design are now part of agile guidance.
For PM professionals

Why it matters

Many project professionals in Lebanon work in hybrid settings, combining predictive and agile approaches across distributed teams. The second edition gives them a shared, up-to-date reference for choosing and tailoring approaches, measuring outcomes rather than activity, and bringing agility from the team to the whole organization.
